Interested in Scanning?

I've been enjoying listening to Police,Fire, Sheriff and so on for a while know. But In my county you can't hear them cause their on EDACS (MA/Com). But their is only 2 or 3 freqs you can hear some action going on. I'am wondering if anyone here is interested in scanning. I also found a good webpage recommended from the local ham radio guys. And their is Fourms like just here on QRZ if you need help and just local database for your town/state/county to program your scanners. So I was just wondering what kind of scanners if you own any. I have a VX-2R what I transmitt on and Recieve on.

my bro and I have a BC 246T that we share depending on what we're doing. we can hear fire paramedic and city services. police is digital EDACS or the like...and those scanners are too expensive and need to be registered with industry canada for those of us living in canada
