A Korean-Japanese scholar who is considered North Korean leader Kim Jong-il’s unofficial spokesman said yesterday that Pyongyang has a hydrogen bomb it would test as part of a series of actions mentioned in its statement against the United States.

In an interview with MBC radio, Kim Myong-chol, director of the Center for Korean-American Peace, a Japan-based pro-North Korean research agency, said the Stalinist state is ready to test its H-bomb or conduct a nuclear test larger than its proclaimed test on Monday.

So....we invade a country with no WMD's, remove the person that had the power to deploy WMD's (except they didn't have any...) and stay there while NK (the Communist Democratic Republic of Korea) has them, tests them and would likely use them.

He can posture all he wants, he knows that any agressive act with a nuke would result in the vaporization of NK.

He also knows the north cannot win a conventional fight in Korea. It would be bloody and harsh, but they can't win.

That was said about the US invading Iraq and it turned out to be true. #It didn't stop us, why would you think Jong-il to be any different?

Kim Jong Ill apparently thinks that China will not let us take military action against him. As unhappy as Peking is with him right now, they won't let us vaporize him on their front door. The Chinese are scared to death that if NK falls, they will have millions of refugees to deal with. They already have problems dealing with illegal NK aliens crossing the border looking for food.

Our leaders keep saying there is NO military option, though Bush waffled on that last week.

The whole thing is crazy.
We have a bunch of half-crazed Arabs, North Korea on the fritz, and who knows what Cuba is doing?
The solution? build a giant wall around the US, or at least the part that is with Mexico.
Canada is not really happy right now, and the rest of the world is not doing great, Russian politics being what it is right now the idea of communist capitolism is what they are looking at.

Howdy,

Atomic bombs are wastefull and destructive. How come nothing has been said about the late 60s or 70s Neutron Bomb which when exploded over a target destroys all living tissue but leaves hardly any physical destruction or residue radiation ? After detonation, 48 hours later the area is clear to enter.

Fox had a report on NK's expected 2nd detonation. The report showed various sites where new activity has be detected by spy satellites. What was interesting was that most of the sites were next to a major river in a mountainous region. Safety was never likely considered in NK's nuclear program. But detonating upstream from a major water supply seems to corroberate what we already know. Kim cares about no one. His willingness to sacrifice his own people should be clear indication of his madness.

I still think the US should inform China that NK is a regional problem and they must deal with it. Let us see whether China would accept a completely unfettered madman on their border. Up to now China has allowed the US to be the international bad guy. An inability to stabilize NK would make China look weak internationally. As long as the US's weak response continues China looks level headed.
