http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif # Has anyone noticed that since 1952 the population
#in the US has doubled? #Yep..in 1952 there were 150 million
people in the US. #Just yesterday it is reported to be 300 million. #
#I'm not sure but I think there might be that many automobiles on the highway too. #No wonder we have gas
shortages. #
#Another thing, every car has at least 4 tires... Trucks have
#more than four.. #
# I believe I'm in the wrong business. #Selling tires would surely make me a fortune.
# Toooooooo late........... #
# Just food for thought..

In 1952, the published and widely distributed fear about the population ever growing to 300 million was that we'd never be able to feed them all -- we'd literally run out of food.
Yeah, right.
Americans are fatter now than ever. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
It would be good to run out a little bit now and then...

Too bad half of them are illegal aliens.

I doubt that any illegal's are included in that number

I was born in NYC. When I was quite young, one of my teachers wanted to impress on me how big a number 1 million was. I was told that 1 million dollar bills piled one on top of another would rise to a height 1.5 times the height of the Empire State Building.
Got my attention.

200,000,000 mark was set in 1967, 39 years ago.
400,000,000 projected for 2043, just 37 years from now.
The only two nations in the world with more people are China and India.

So, how are we going to get rid of the 299,990,385 people we don't need here? http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
And in other news, the population of Mexico is increasing slightly less.

Yep, and the average size of the American family is smaller now than back then (don't have a source, but I've read that it is like 2.5 kids per couple). So, seems to me that some of this boom can be traced south.

You'd be right, Heath. But it's more than just that. Life expectancy plays a role, too.
Here's a *link* (http://www.denverpost.com/nation/ci_4505997) to the graphic breakdown. Interesting stuff.

Yep...300,000 people in the USA. #It was 200,000 only a short time ago and it will be a billion if we don't do something about it soon. #We need:-
1) More use of condums.
2) More abortions.
3) Smaller quotas for immigration to the U.S.
This is the only way that we can maintain our real faith based family values without getting a population as dense as Mexico or China. # If we do not limit population growth we will have to swim across the Rio Grande to find work in Mexican Wal-Marts that sell the stuff that will be made by other unemployed exAmericans in China. #I kid you not. # The world is flat.
Not only are people being born at a young age...but people are dying at older ages evrey year. #What a revolting development!

I know!! I have the solution! I say we enact a quota, all women must have at least 2 abortions per year! documented proof of the abortion must be presented with every IRS tax return, only excuses: No sexual activity, which must be testified to by sworn affadavit, infertility, requiring detailed medical records, or long-term comma, which is a questionable excuse but might still fly. All violations are punishable by a WET WILLY or a WEDGIE.

How about more vasectomies also.
Funny how everyone talks about the woman getting an abortion, but men can get the bullets taken out of the gun also.
Even responsibility on both sides would be a plus http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Preventative contraception, ah! What a novel idea! Maybe I better rethink the abortion thing in favor of personal responsibility. Yep.

Count me in on that one: I've been "shooting blanks" since I was 30.
In fact, I always knew I didn't want to be a parent but apparently the doctors here in the States won't perform a vasectomy until you're 30--by then they figure you really know whether you want to be parent material or not.

We are apparently unable to learn from clear mistakes.
Too much crowding puts a strain on the environment and the access of each of us to the benefits of a little breathing room. As our numbers grow larger, the social value of each individual life deprecates.
I am worried that my children will be less likely to have access to life-extending medicine and that my grandchildren will be restricted in the number of kids they can have.
Allowing other countries to export their over-population problems to the USA seems like a direct attack on the comfort and safety of my progeny.

Ever met an anti-growth politician? Me neither, at least not lately. I think quantity of taxpayers fits in here somewhere.
It's definately a quality vs. quantity deal, though. And we're well past the point where quantity helps.

I agree! The population explosion scare myth has been going on all my life...We moved out of Phoenix in 1991 and came to southern Iowa where it's relatively unpopulated ....There are alot of places just like it
