Well, the title kinda sums it up?

Any Youths interested in QRP or possible QRPp operating? I absolutely love QRP CW, built two ten tec QRP kits, my first radio was a homebrewed QRPp transmitter and a borrowed reciever. Ive talked more that 1000 miles per watt, and Lower the power on the FT-897D to 5 watts whenever I can. Anyone else?

I have built my own 30 metre, ten MHZ QRP but have not operated it more than once.
It cost me (without the antenna)
10$ canadian.

runs 500mw at 12 volts, But I run it off of 9 Volt sqaure with a clip.

This transmitter I built so that the crystal can me removed, (i used a crystal holster).
And the coil can be changed,

So if i had a bunch of coils, Which i do,
And all the crystals,
I can work, 160,80,40,and 30 by changing it out in two minutes,

If anyone wants the plans, just fire me an email,

I try to do QRP CW where possible, with <5W on 20m and 30m, which is no great deal, as I am restricted to 10W under normal circumstances

Nice! I absolutely love to use my Ten Tec 1320 and 1340 series radios. They are excellently designed and very dependable. I really ahve been enjoying the 1340 on 40M lately too! max power is about 3.5 to 4 watts.

yeah due to antanna issues for HF I'm restricted to portable QRP often in the backyard...though with propogation these days I can't get the antenna up high enough to make it out to anyone listening. was given a norcal cascade SSB for 20 and 75 shortly after I got my liscense

do you call CQ or just listen and pick out a particularly strong station and return their call? I have called CQ on 20 with a wire dipole in the backyard ...between 2 trees with 0 luck after close to an hour of calling

I listen for other people calling CQ and than answer to the other stations call. If you say you're QRP they almost always come back to you.

my rule: If i can hear them and they are European i can work them.

calling CQ doesn't really work for a PA or PE station, there just to many PA and PE stations http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif not a very interesting DX http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

neither is VA...the americans really don't care to work us much at all...unless they're looking for an award that needs us.

you could also try CW, you can work the world with 5w in CW.

I hope I'm still considered a youth these days. Definitely interested in QRP. I have built so far but have not tested my "two tinned tuna transmitter", and am waiting patiently for my Rockmite 40m Xcvr to build and test. In the mean time I really need to make a simple 40m antenna where I can easily take it around with me. Any suggestions?

well, Im 17 and I am in the process of building a QRP openHSMM 2.4GHz repeater....
It will operate on 20mW to 250mW.
If I had more time I would get into HF but with college coming up and everything I just don't have the time for all of this and i figure the openHSMM project will be something to just keep me involved somewhat.
