Oh, I just thought it was cool that I had a CW QSO with our friend from the Azores, Gary, CU2JT.
You probably have seen him post from time to time, the avatar with the fisherman wearing the jumpsuit holding up a large speciman.
Thanks for the QSO Gary. I hope you see this thread. I enjoyed it and the signal was booming in Louisiana.
I wish I heard MORE from the QRZ crowd, especially the DX that frequents our hallowed forum. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Hey, it may not be too late to snag him, he said he was QSY to 40 meters!
I will be QRV from Trinidad from Nov 18 to Dec 2 as 9Y4RAJ. Listen out for me.
If you want a QSL and you are one of the QRZ.com regulars I'll even waive the return postage requirement. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Hey, that's a great policy!
I'll try to listen for you.
Yeah. #I am not a GS collector.
I just don't want to spend a lot of money returning QSLs direct when I can just drop a whole stack in the buro. #Direct will be the exception rather than the rule, I hope.
I expect to make quite a few contacts as the time I am there I will be participating in the CQWW CW test. #I will be bringing with me better equipment than I had before. #Don't think I'll be able to afford to QSL each and every one direct... #I won't mind QSLing via the buro though. #The buro is dirt cheap and if I just send to the area buros it will just be the cost of postage, which isn't all that much for the volume I'm anticipating.
As for the W2 Buro, I don't even have to mail it. I wil just bring it to the meeting. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
But for my QRZ.com friends I make an exception. #You guys help me out and keep me entertained. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I'll track you down !!!
(Hopefully)
By the way, one person I worked from here is Tom, KC0W, operating from Martinique as TO0O.
I've also heard AB8MA in a pileup on 20m fone a couple weeks ago, as well as WB2WIK/6 in a rag chew a few months ago. Didn't want to break in as they had a good QSO going.

See you in the CW test, one of my favorites. If I'm lucky, I can snag you on all bands for the mult. Got 9Y confirmed on all bands CW except 12 and 160 so wont need a card unless they offer a WAQ (Worked All QRZers) award.

I was never able to break through the east coast guys piling onto Tom's signal. I could hear him but didn't have the punch to get back to him.
The only QRZ regular I have worked was N6WK on 6m this summer. Short QSO with the band in and out but I can't complain, I don't even have an antenna for 6m. I faked it with a 6BTV and the auto tuner in the TS-480SAT. Kept the radio happy but would be fooling myself to say it was an ideal setup. Before next summer I'll have to head over to Arrow Antenna and pickup a 6m beam if I haven't gotten around to building the Hex Beam by then.

Well if you need either I'll see.
My dad has a lot of space so I can string up a 160m antenna pretty easy. He lives out in the countryside where practically no one will complain of TVI!
A friend of mine (9Z4BM) is getting involved in low band DXing but he doesn't do CW. If he sets up some stuff I might as well ask to use his QTH as well. He's building this new 3 operator shack which he may use for contests or just emergency comms preparedness.

I was able to get Tom easily from the car on both 20 and 40. He did have a lot of the big guns piling on but with a little bit of patience I finally managed to get him.
And it was quite a surprise when I got home and looked up the QSL info - I didn't realize that TO0O was our very own KC0W!

The 6BTV doesn't do too bad on 6M in a pinch. I used mine on FD as in the process of taking down the 6M beam, I bobbled it and broke one of the elements.
I like to troll 20M around 14.060 down to 14.040 in the evenings about the time the band is closing.

My pleasure, Heath. I did QSY to 40m and worked a couple of guys up on 7042 KHz, one of them was running 2 watts and we had a long chat.
That's where you find me on 40m. I rather prefer to have a nice chat with some QRP station than being down on the DX part handing out the "5NN TU" crap.
I have worked 18,800 QSO since August 5, 2004, so if you guys and gals haven't worked me yet, don't blame me...
B.t.w it is a wader I wear, not a jump suit. The fish was caught in Salmon River, NY, and it is a steelhead, 16 lbs.

Absolutely. I love pileups...
Except where it gets nasty, with the DX cops on patrol and the sore losers deciding to load up their overdriven amps on frequency.

Well, cool.
Not exactly QRZ.com "DX", but I just finished a good QSO with Steve WB2WIK/6, our first contact on the air, on CW. I asked Steve to get me Jessica Simpson's phone number, since he rubs elbows with the stars in Sunny Cali, but I'm not sure if his copy was good, lol. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Your signal was good most thru the QSO Steve, with only a few instances of fading.
I hope my fist wasn't butchering the code too much. I'm still in the learning stages with the Iambic keyer, and the homebrew paddles aren't exactly top quality, but they do the job. I have some kent paddles on order, just haven't seen them yet.
Keep the air waves hot over there in tinsel town, Steve.

Heath, nice to catch you on 30m CW.
I think the reason we haven't run across each other before is I'm usually chasing DX and on 30m rarely tune above about 10.115. I think you were up on .120 or so.
When we signed, a CP6 (Bolivian) called me but was so close to the noise I couldn't complete a contact. But then I tuned down to 10.103 and found a pileup on DT8A. I found his "last contact" to zero, and worked him with one call - 599 both ways, and seriously 599 (he was very strong).
Seems the band was yucky towards the "dark" and wide open towards the "light" (west of me), so that's what happens. During the sunspot cycle peaks, on 30m it's usually the other way around. I forget sometimes we're at the rock bottom.
Heard your QSO with N0UA and he lost you while you were sending, so I was hearing both of you at once! Vince was strong here, but he's also a lot closer. He "signed" with you while you were still chatting. The bands are like that nowadays...
73 & keep the bands burning!

I knew that, once. Jessica Simpson lived a few miles from me over in Hidden Hills, down the street from a friend of mine, WA6DKN. Same street, actually.
But in her divorce they sold the place and she moved. Don't know where she is now.
If I find out, I'll let you know!

Well, funny that this thread popped back up. Just worked Tom, KC0W, on 20 meters. Thanx for the QSO Tom. I was trying to work your speed as best as I could, but my fist just isn't there yet, not with these homebrew junk paddles, lol.
I heard CU2JT on one of the DX nets along with Ashley, EL2AR. I tried to check in but the band started to fade away...

Ya, thanks for the chat, Heath.
You are doing fantastic for only being on CW for a year now!!! When you said your name was Heath during our QSO, it suddenly all made sense. Not too many Heaths on this site.
Good luck,

Hi rot. Yes, you are in my log together with 940 other contacts. That was exhausting. B.t.w. see my reflections on contest results in another thread.

I am there almost every evening so just check it up from time to time. I am also on the OMISS net on 14290, check-in time 1800-1830z and you donŽt have to be an OMISS member to check in.
We leave the DST next weekend and after that, you can also find me on the 40m OMISS net. They are on 7263.5 and I use to hang about on 7138 so up on 40 youŽll have to work split.
