Way cool. That site has a lot of nifty projects. It has some good Darwin award candidate projects too though.

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif when I first seen the title, I thought it was gonna be one of those " shake flashlights " you see for sale in past year or two.
NO I do not own one.

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif # I do own one of them. #Works very well and cheap too.
#However, the weak part of them is the switch. #It wears out in a very short time. #I had to replace it with a different kind of switch.

Can't beat a Streamlight, even if it does need batteries or an occassional charging. # I've gotten kind of attached to my new Streamlight Twintask. #Cool LED lamp. # Of course there's always old reliable - the Litebox.
That little project is cute though. # I have a serious weakness: I'm afraid of the dark. # Thus it is that I have lots of flashlights, laterns, rechargeable spotlights, and emergency #lights that come on when the power goes out.
I love my Streamlights though ;)

Darwin awards? Here's one that's simple, though I can see a non-electrical person being leery. Just read the disclaimer; be sure not to have any soda pop in your mouth though. I will NOT buy you a new monitor if you spray it with Pepsi!

I have gone through 3 LED flashlights, different sizes and different manufacturers. Not a single one outlasted its first set of batteries. After a few hours of normal operation, the LED's one by one would start to get dim and finally go completely out.
I will never buy another.

Hello.
The QUALITY of the light has a lot to do with it.
I started with the mini maglite 2 AA flashlight.
My gripe was the little light bulbs, perhaps 3 sets of cells was
it.
I went to the nite-ize conversion, the tailcap switch is a useful feature.

Now there is an entire line of that stuff.
The conversion kit cost something like $6 a few years back.
This has been in daily service for over 4 years.

I bought a one of those Faraday rechargeable flashlights with the high brightness LED when they first came out.
It has to be close to four years ago now. It was darned expensive then around $40.00 if I remember right.
It still works fine no dimness to the light. Granted I don’t use it to read by all night but just a few shakes and it stays on for hours.
I recently bought a bit different one with two LED’s in it. There is a little handle that pops out the side of it. You pump it a few times and have hours of light from it. I think it must have bigger batteries in it because it will stay lit longer than my original.
The original may just have a capacitor in it, I’ve not been curious enough to take it apart yet. It is sealed with some kind of glue or maybe it was heat sealed. The case is all plastic.
Oh yeah, the new one only cost $4.97 at Wallyworld.
The case on it has screws holding it together so if I someday need to I might be able to disassemble it and replace LED’s or batteries.
