In September, Karl Rove promised an "October Surprise" (Newsmax Article (http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2006/9/20/141615.shtml?s=lh)).
Here it is, October 1st and I don't think this is what Rove exactly had in mind.
Foley Cover-up (http://thinkprogress.org/2006/09/30/foley-coverup-timeline/)
I simply can not see how Republicans can take the high ground any longer. Here we have a man, the leadership on a Congressional caucus on children's issues, exchanging homoerotic email with a teen age Congressional paige.
Will neo-cons settle for both parties being equally obtuse, out of touch with reality and having little regard for the electorate, or shall we just get down in the mud and ask the difficult questions as to why this was tolerated within the Republican ranks? And why the coverup?
Liberalism may be a mental illness, but at least it's not one that's going to get one listed on your state's sex offender registry or your photo on the cover of Pervert's Weekly.

Now I’m gonna miss out on all the action.

I would personally prefer U.N. election monitors.

Unfortuneately, I think we've gotten to that point.

Why not? The voters, and especially the party faithful of both stripes, have been settling for it for decades.
Oh, and the Foley fiasco debuted in September.

thereby putting the thinking people of this country on alert.
For us, anything "dramatic" will automatically lack credibility.
The sheeple will swallow it as usual, of course.

Liberalism is not a mental illness but Ann Coulter is.
The St. Pete paper knew about this almost 5 years ago. Where you guys been?

Wow, according to you Democrats, Karl Rove must be the center of the Universe (alongside Halliburton, of course)

Bill Clinton is obviously still the center of the neocon universe, so if I were you, I would get over it.

And in the middle of this festering boil is the head,Karl Rove...
Pathology (boil) a painful, circumscribed inflammation of the skin or a hair follicle, having a dead, suppurating inner core: usually caused by a staphylococcal infection. #
Also called furuncle.

ka8ncr - this is not a republican or democrat issue. #This is a scumbag issue the FBI and Federal Law Enforcement need to agressively address. Perhaps the day is finally starting to come around that requires elected officials to be held accountable for some of their illegal actions.
Ethics............................ well lets try getting some the crooks locked up first.

Funny you mention it. #Wasn't Foley leading the band about internet predators?
And isn't it funnier that the Reps threw him under the bus, but screamed at the Dems for doing away with Lieberman?

One difference there. Joe Lieberman isn't a pervert.

It isn't a party issue until the Republican party tries to shove the problem under a rug. And then when they're called on it, lies about knowing the problem existed in the first place; even in light of overwhelming evidence.
Then the problem stopped being one pervert sitting in Congress and started being a Republican party problem. It's pretty obvious the Republicans kept Foley around because he gave lots of money for party election causes. They kept him around because of his power.
They kept him around, and that's all that needs to be said on the issue. If you can't "out" and expel the people in your party that are undesireables, then what good is the party. It's a tacit acceptance of their behavior.
Now, I agree with you about ethics on both sides of the fence. I'm sure there's a Democrat that's next in line for the big scandal. Their yard needs to be cleaned-up too.
