Rob,
I too am beginning to think Arkansas rolled up the sidewalks, closed the state lines, turned out the lights, shut the drapes and called it QUITS !!!
I've been trolling for AR QSO Party participants since 2100 Z and I have found a grand total of TWO (2). One on 20 and one on 40. I didn't hear a single station on 80 all night.
Earth to Arkansas........
# # #Earth to Arkansas........
# # # # # Come in Arkansas !!!!!!!!!!
H-e-l-l-oooo.....You guys & ladies still living http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif
On edit:
Maybe it will be better tomorrow.
(Yeah, right !!!)
Best of luck finding someone on 80.

Well heck, Bill... I listened on 80 for about an hour and a half last night... CW - SSB - RTTY. A bit of RTTY contest activity, coupla C2C FISTS stations, but nada from AR.
And what kinda contest has a 12-hour hole in the middle? I'll listen some more tonight, but it's looking like a bust. Tryin' to get the last 4 I need for 5BWAS -- odd that AR would even be on that list...

I managed to work a couple of Arkansas stations on 14.263 and 14.277. Both came in 5-5 and sounded very busy.

Hello everyone outside Arkansas. My question is where were you?? I was on the air all day Saterday, was even on 80M for 1 & 1/2 hours. Could only scare up FOUR contacts on 80M, wasn't worth the time, could have gotten more contacts if I had stayed on 20 & 40 meters.
So, here's the big question. Where are you going to be today (Sunday)??
I'm going to be on the air trying to scare up some more contacts for the ARQP. Look for me and give me a contact, I could really use the points. I'll be starting out on 20M then 40M. Might try 80M again towards the end.
Hope to hear from everyone.

I was playing in the FISTS Coast to Coast contest yesterday, but it's now 1810z and that one is over. The ARQP is supposed to be started back up now, but haven't heard anything yet (tuning 20m CW right now, might have to wait until later this evening for 40m, might be too close to Arkansas for 20 here in South Texas).
BTW Mark, heard you calling CQ on 80 early this morning but someone got back to you first. You had a pretty decent signal into here. Saw your QTH on your QRZ bio, so I checked my log and sure enough we had a CW QSO back in January. I remember it 'cause I was telling you about going through Pea Ridge on our way from Bentonville to Eureka Springs. Hope to work you in the ARQP today!

Hi Mark,
Good to hear you yesterday.
I was one of your contacts on 40m, at 0010 Z.
You were one of the TWO stations I heard.
I'll be listening today. I really enjoy working the state/regional QSO parties. Hope to hear you on other bands today.
BTW,
The bands seem dead here right now. There was a minor magnetic storm, or so a web page that I check regularly states, so that may make conditions poor for the rest of the day.

I'll have to turn on the gear and have a listen. I need some amusement. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
The 80-metre AM thing this noon was rather funky. Signals were varying all over the place. In 40 mid-morning, I had to rely on backscatter from a fellow 250 miles away. You know the ionosphere is weak if you need backscatter in 40 during the day.

Yes, it's you. Just heard you ID.
AR to Pennsylvania at this time of day on 40 is a stretch.
Just heard you contact a FL station, but as I say, you are down in the mud to me right now.
I would try it anyhow, just for the halibut, but I would be a dupe on 40 anyhow.

That would explain a lot.
The bands were D E A D for me yesterday and today.
And EA3JE, Lou actually came in today at less than 59 + 40db, which is quite unusual!
I tried making some calls to the AR stations but I didn't get through the pileups. Maybe if I was home I'd have fired up the amp and gotten through.

Still early here for AR on 80/75, but I might be listening some more later on - contest ends at 0200Z. Man, 20's been dead today, so I took the opportunity to replace my dual bulkhead arrangement to feed 6 coax lines into the house instead of two.

I sure hope there is more activity in the Pennsylvania QSO party on October 14 & 15 than there seemed to be in the Arkansas party.
I say seemed to be, because there may have been much more activity than I heard.
I'll be working the QSO party on Sunday October 15th with either my call, or the club call WA3COM.
Can't do Saturday, my dumb daughter decided she was getting married that day.
She KNEW the QSO party was that weekend, and she scheduled it that way anyhow.

Well, the ARQP is over. I'd had hoped to do a bit better but am pleased with my results. I wonder where all the AR stations were myself, I only worked 4, but did get a total of 342 contacts.
Thanks to everyone who put up with the band conditions (especially Sunday) and gave me a contact. For those who tried but I just couldn't copy-sorry, but we tried.
I hope next year there's more activity from inside AR. It would make it more worth everyone elses time.
If anyone needs AR for WAS, 5BWAS etc. send me an e-mail and we'll try to set up a sked.
Hope to see everyone next year.
