Well, here is my messy work area. I'm finish with the first stage of the build and its about to get powered up for the first time for its initial testing and alignment. Sorry about the size, I did scale it.
Bonus points for anyone who can tell what the problem is with me building this.

Color blind?
Mike
Well the "problem" is that you're a NCT building a HF multimode/multiband rig?
Not really a problem. You can always:
- Upgrade your license
- Use it as an exciter for a transverter to do weak signal VHF/UHF/microwave
- Use it for listening to the HF bands
- Build it for a club station and go operate there under the guidance of a control op who has a General/Advanced/Extra license

Sell it to a Ham that can't build one (due to medical problems). There's a big market for these on e-Bay. I'm impressed with the Elecraft and your handiwork. One of these days, Alice, one of these days... http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Bingo AB2MH wins the prize! I don't know why I'm building it. Its not like I can use it. I just wanted to see if I could I guess.

You could always make up a fake call, throw out a few CQ's and make some contacts , you know, just to see if it works.

If you have the patients to sit down and build a K2, then you can easily learn the code. Upgrade and put that K2 on the air!

There is a really nice set of transverters covering 6m, 2m , 220 and 432. If you add the 60M band module you get the transverter interface. The K2 makes an excellent IF so your efforts are not wasted. Besides, it is such a superb CW receiver that if you spend just a little time each evening in the CW segments you will be able to pass Element 1 in no time.

Man, you won't be able to speak Yaesu/Icom/Kenwood/Alinco part numbers back and forth like "real" hams. There is a twelve step program that can save you . . . .
All kidding aside, glad to see someone BUILDING something besides Griefkits. And . . . you get bragging rights.

The problem is there is(are) no beer can(s).
Antenna projects need ice and wind to work well, Rig projects require alcohol....
Actually congrats on your great project.
I built a K1 a few years ago and LOVE it. I have started another, but it sits waiting for some ambition to step up...
Also, my little work area hasn't looked that neat in YEARS.

I beg to differ. Down here in Texas, it's a proven fact that an antenna won't work unless it's owner says "Here, hold my beer" at least twice during the install! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
