View Full Version : HAM youth group
Hi! I have been veiwing other posts and see a youth group on radio was bound to be formed. I am also a youth, around the age of 13, have my general, and am active on HF. I though it would be a good idea to get other youths together on the air, a net. It would be a good chance to make new friends, have a good time operating, and maybe add some states to WAS (worked all states). I think it would be a great chance for youths to be able to talk on the band, to eachother. Since other youths will be involved in this, you can look me up and send me an e-mail with your ideas for a band and a time. I hope to hear your comments! 73's http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

well, sounds like a chance to revive NAYN, the north american youth net..... Im pretty sure it died out... check out thier yahoo group.... I get out of work at 6 pm. neverless my 15-20 min commute home so I had no choice but to miss the nets http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
It'd be great to get it going again
Sorry, I forgot to mention. I am looking for general and up. Any young Technicians, look into downloading echolink. Also, do to recent band conditions people, we might have to use echolink. I could talk about it all day, you don't want that. hi hi. So just search echolink and the site should come up. 73's
QSL! I have heard of that net! I want to bring it back! Or start a new one. I have experience at net control just to mention for people who think I have no idea what I am doing. lol. 73's

ok, there is already a youth EL net that meets on the WASH confrence server. I belive HF is the way to go..... the only problem is control ops and conditions. I couldnt make the NAYN nets because I get out of work at 6 PM normaly which is when the net starts and I still have 6 miles to drive.... and band conditions werent always open....
I belive that the solution is to vary the band the net is on considering band conditions and to also make it and INFORMAL net, hey, its a net but we all just hang out... http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ok well, ill keep watching this topic got to go though, 73's
QSL! I believe so too. I was just throwing up ideas. I would be able to be control op. if we ever got this of the ground and on the air. I have net control experience. Well...I hope we can get more replies and get this going.

Any time after 4:00PM or so, you name the band and Ill be there. I don't have *quite* enough juice to hit europe with the sunspot count this low. Heck, even if we don't get a net together I would like to give you a call ,and you can cross NH off your WAS list.
Cool! I already got NH crossed off. If we did a net, I would shoot for about 0030 UTC for starting time, 20 meters. What do ya think?

OK, sounds good. Chose a frequency and a day and I will be there, as long as I don't have to get up at 5:30 the next morning to catch the bus.
Ok, lets do Tuesday at 0100 on 14.240. How does that sound to everyone?

OK, 01 UTC is great when we come off of DST, but until then could we shoot for 00 UTC? Frequency and day are fine.

Duncan, you've got a terrific idea here! I enjoyed making your acquaintance at the club meeting a few weeks ago. Good luck putting this together!

Hello Duncan, Just to let you know you are off to a good start! This is exactly what ham radio needs right now is a youth HF net. But may i make a suggestion. if you do an HF net why not create local nets ex: on 2 meters then report them to the HF net or something that. I like i said this is an idea but i won't stand in the way. Tim NØSZE
