I have been away for awhile. Is there any news from the FCC regarding the lifting of the Morse Code exam?
Thanks.

If there WERE nooz, you'd see a couple dozen threads about it before you could reboot your computer... http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
(Or as Chevy Chase used to say: "Generalissimo Franko is STILL dead..."
And the FCC still hasn't made any comments or changes.
They are NOT required to do so any time soon, or even later. It's only those with CSCE's that expire soon that were hoping for a change. Guess THEY were hoping against hone. But there's no one or nothing to force the FCC to make a decision, or any change, and no deadline that the FCC has to follow.
So the license requirements remain the same.

Yeah. According to Riley Hollingsworth: "Study for your code exam".
At least, thats what he said a while ago.
My prediction is we will get a ruling in 4 years 7 months (predicted 5Y earlier this year).
I stand by my prediction. I say we will get a ruling, not what the ruling is.
I predict the NPRM will be modified and not set into effect for at least 2 years.
The NPRM itself attracted over 6200 comments. That's a lot of reading.

I guess I was hoping the same thing. Passed the written, studying for the Morse Code. Hit 20 letters and kinda "plateau'ed" on my learning curve. Gotta keep going....

As a VE You can still grab that brass key, BTW thats what I did grab a book Morse Code Essentials DE ARRL I had flunked the code #1st. time & passed my General after some more serious study passed my General, studied my Extra and passed that, I found that cross study between the CD Audio the 5 WPM disk allows to study the stubborn problems. and reinforce with the Audio oscillator.
I like Gordon West's comment #on one of the old General CLass Exam Tapes and heres something to boot DE me... # # Show me a Ham who works hard on his Code every day and I'll show you a Ham on the road to Sucess in passing their Morse Code Exam ! #I'll pop some pep talk here ..
I had thought was going to be an obstical course, after some serious thought I decided well its time to sit down and do it. #setting aside the fear of failing the exam, decided to go ahead if someone who knows me can do it I surely can. #I even bought a Oscillator OK no sound , well a run to the parts store Thanks to Radio Shack I bought a package of some ceramic disk caps , did some diagnostic poking around to find a problem resolved, BEEEEP ! soldered the cap at points touched and away I went, say BTW isn't this part of our hobby fixing stuff!?
Dah Dit Dah Dit , #Dah Dah Dit Dah. #<--- #this always gets used in a CW conversation well onward I study.
problem roadblocks Sure I had Negative people who said this and that so who are they ? #just Negative People who lead Neagtive Lives trying to drag you down to their level or below their level. #once you know and say to your self I will rise above so and so and show them that I can do it regardless of the negative stuff said !!.
I CAN SAY I DON'T CARE WHERE THESE PEOPLE CAME FROM THEY ARE ON THE AIR AS WELL I TOTALLY IGNORE THESE PEOPLE!!

I am still busy and my next thing I am working on is breaking down another wall and you should too ! # You Can do the Code and its as simple what that old story goes I think I can well I know I can ! so can You, you have to self disipline your mind continusly If you can get your Tech License Exam the Code Should not be any more difficult than doing the Next step.
I feel much more confident now than a few years ago, what I am doing for you people is confidence building and if you have a Negative person right now in your life all they are doing is shooting negative comments, best advice, if they call on the phone don't answer have them leave a message, some of you have cell phones may have call blocking service If you have full service Sprint is One and so Is Disney Mobile, #paying the extra price for that service is up to your budget.
and Controlling People are like that.
what I learned awhile back sometimes its best to detatch from someone who is Controlling as well Negative (( #but in some cases where you are a Minor or have a Legal Guardain of some sort that has jurisdiction by a Legal Court order ( disclaimer) #there may be some legal reasons someone has to be supervised, then this area does not apply. #I don't want a flame war to take off from some one who misunderstands me. ))
I know not all situations are on the same feild.
Hopefully in what I am encouraging the majority to start assessing themselves Hey Sun Spot Cycyle 40 is comming and why should you miss out on the HF bands? I am usually sometimes on 10M. sometimes on 2 M.
I hope this will help at least one person.
73 and Good Luck! # #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Simple, but many fight it like it's some sort of bad cancer.
I have to admit to being biased (100% pro-code). Nevertheless, I think if a person wants their license bad enough, they'll do what it takes to get it, even if it means, God forbid, learning 5 wpm Morse Code. It's all about attitude. Perhaps I'm the one with the wrong attitude but when I wanted to get into amateur radio, I didn't come in whining and complaining about how tough it was. Sure it was tough; anything worthwhile is. After I got up to around 10 wpm, code was no longer something to fight with. I found that I actually enjoyed it... even more than phone.
I didn't expect ham radio to come down to me. I expected to rise to it. And that, IMHO, is the way it should be.
