Has any body suffered rf feedback via the mic lead on vhf? Mine does. It doesn't like being too close to the antenna (or vice versa - hi hi). HF is fine even if ant. is only 10 foot away (and at max o/p). I've put a ferrite rod in the bottom coils of the mike lead and that helps a lot but only at 20w. Cannot use my 100w amp.

I've been using mine for about a year since bought new, the 706MKIIG model, and never had that problem.

I have been using mine with a diamond 7900A antenna for 2mtr and 440 and a 160w Mirage amplifier (at 130w)without any problems at all. How good is your ground on the rig? I am using 1/2 inch copper braid for a ground. I am also using a starfire product screwdriver antenna for hf with a 250w amplifier.

I've had mine for a little over a year. #Just started getting feedback through the internal speaker and through the speaker of a Heil headset. Not sure what the cause is.

I have an IC 706 MKII G installed on my sailboat with a random wire 50' antenna and an antenna tuner. It replaces my old IC 735. Performance is superior in every respect. I have worked New Zealand and England from San Diego in ordinary band conditions with no sweat, 2 meter packet and HF pactor, 40 meter CW, and everything I have tried works better than good. DSP is worth having. Audio is reported excellent on ssb and nfm. No feedback problems. I have heard reports that true output varies from unit to unit. I recommend this radio.

HI you'all. I have a 706MKIIG that I purchased new in Feb this year. I keep loosing the 100 htz PL tone. It is locked into menory and I still have to put it in before I can transmit on 2m to get into the rptr. It comes up 88.5, the default. I checked the memory and it is in there, can anyone HELP me on this problem?
