I just realized that I have been licensed for 4 years today. Started out a Tech with code, and upgraded to General last November. Wow it doesn't seem like its been that long.

I figured that it must have been 10 years now since I became a ham radio operator, and then I thought and remembered that I started in 1976.

well I was licensed as a youth..sort of..feb. of 98. I wasn't 20 yet. Wss I a youth?..well I was married http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif but I figure I am still a youth since I hang out with youths equaly as with 60 year olds.

Anyway I you ever read my posts you'll find I started with cb am...cb ssb... scanner lsitening.. swl.... 2m ham... dropped out of radio when echolink made everything stupid...

Now though since I have been allowed hf.. i am full blown back into the hobby.. hf 160-17m (15-6 dead here)

And 2m and 11m ssb (another ham band here)

No better hobby to help people locally and miles away. Plus there is just TOO MUCH to do in this hobby. You can never get board.

Im licenced nearly a year and a half. #

Its trange that you say 15-6m is dead, there have been quite a few openings from W land to the UK and Europe over this last few weeks- the most recent being a KP2 on 15m a week ago.

As regards 10m and 6m, I am not permitted on 10m due to the class of licence I hold and as regards 6m, I have no #experience of it yet.

Today marks exactly 1 year of being a licensed amateur radio operator!

I thought it was later in the month, but I received KE7ERX as an assigned callsign on 08/15/2005 and then immeadiately filed a vanity callsign request for KU7PDX and that was granted on 09/02/2005.

Woohoo!

5 years for me, I got my ticket back in 2001 at the age of 13. Another 20 and I will be joining QCWA. Currently Extra class and while at this moment I am not really active as I have been working and starting college soon I hope to have a lifetime of radio ahead of me.
