I posted this as a reply to a recent thread here, but though everyone may find it helpful.

As more and more Radio Shacks drop the parts draws from their stores, local "parts" suppliers are harder and harder to find.

I have found that every large truck stop across the country usually has a pretty decent supply of things like automotive wire (large gauge), 12 volt connectors, universal mounting brackets, antenna mounts (mostly for 3/8 x 24 but some NMO and tons of mirror mounts), fuses, pieces of coax, pl 239/259, BNC, external speakers, speaker wire, etc.

Yes, it is targeted at the CB market, but these are pretty universal items.

And you'd be surprised how much the local NAPA, Western Auto, Checker, Pep Boys, etc. has as well.
