That's right...
...it's rare
...it's vintage
...it's a geunine
...heathkit
...catalog
...ad?
Yep, it seems you can cut the heathkit CATALOG ads from your 1979 QSTs and get $10 a pop for em. These are suitable for framing.

It's from the "dank" store, no I'm not making that up.

I will pay at most $5 for the magazine that came out of and if the seller covers shipping I will even take the ad off his hands.
WOW
With my library of ham magazines going back to the 30s imagine what I can make by cutting out the ads and putting them into a $1 8X11 frame.
I also have car, Popular Science, Pop Mechanics, Mechanix illustrated mags that have some very interesting vintage ads going back to WW2. Maybe I can create a business and rake it in.

My brother in law always used to ask when we headed out to car shows "hey, could you pick me up some brochures while you're there?" He didn't care what cars, manufacturers, models, anything. Just take him car brochures.
He's selling them on ebay now, getting $10 or more for some of them. I might add also that he and his wife do not have outside jobs and are VERY well off. All for free car brochures.

As they say, geven enough time, one man's freebies are another man's cherished collectibles, for which some will pay a virtual (if not actual) fortune. Wish my mom hadn't tossed the StuporMan and Mickey Moose and Balooney Tunes comics that cluttered up the closet when I went to Boy Scout Camp for a week in the 7th Grade. They'd be worth a FORTUNE!

I know
have seen this sort of thing
at non ham swaps
for the last few years
people cut ads from old magzines
and try to sell them
most never sell
this one will not sell
yes you can buy
the whole magazine
less than 2 or 3 bucks
its one thing to sell
a nice very clean multi color
1938 Packard ad
from Fourtune magazine
note old pre ww2 Fourtune magazines
in good condition sell for real cash
another thing to try to sell
an ugly two color ad
for a catalog
that nobody would want to frame
and hang on their wall
if i am going to hang a Heathkit
advert on the wall
it had better be a big photo of a DX-100
and yes
if i could sell the adverts
cut out of the magazines
here at the book shop
for 3 bucks each plus 2.75 ship and handling
would be rolling in money

A while ago there was a guy on eBay selling an old Collins QST magazine ad with one of the Collins models that I own. He wanted $14.99 for the "buy it now" option.
In his auction, you could resize the ad to full size.
Well, I resized the ad to full size & printed the Collins ad on my printer.
Quickest $15 that I have ever saved in my life.

At least some people do collect Heathkit catalogs BIG Time! I bought a box of 65 of them at a hamfest for 5 dollars when the guy had given up on them. On Ebay, they sold for a average of $10 each more or less. Some as much as $30 from the late 50's and early 60's in very good condx. I netted $635 for them all when done (which did take a few months to list). I had one guy buy around $200 worth of them and wanted to be e-mailed immediately when I listed a bunch of em. I sure wouldn't hesitate to buy another box of em! $10 for one lousey ad from a catalog in the 70's is pretty steep to say the least though. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Dang... wish I had all my old Mad magazines from the 70s.
Pity they went down a bit after Bill Gaines died...
$2.50 shipping or $6.00 airmail. What a bargain!!! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
