I have brought this Idea up before with the NAYN group and would like to post it here.... I have though about starting a youth frequency, one or two frequencies (a day and a night)... start with one or two to keep it simple... Its not like a net where you either get in or you miss it, (I could never be home at the right time to get to the NAYN nets as I get out of work at 6, neverless my commute)...
How about one in the high 14.200's and one in the 80m band, mabey also a pair for CW.... I'd like to see it be just a general calling freq to other youths to better help us get on the air with each other. use it as a calling freq, once established in a contact, move frequency.... Non youths should generally stay off the frequency...
It's just an Idea right now, I would like to see it grow into another way to get more youths active, I know that I am more inclined to talk with someone my age than someone alot older, as a general note. I'd like to see your comments on this and any suggestions

Not to at all discredit your idea, but I'd want youth as far away from 80m as possible. Way too much junk on there that many people, even adults, wouldn't like to hear.

I'd stick with the 20M freq. because that's open all day, all the time, then maybe 40M, but I'd suggest more one for 10M. LOTS of space on 10M that's pretty much unused and you'd be suprised at what 10M can do even now in the solar cycle. Plus a 10M or even 20/10M dipole is very easy to make, and doesn't need to be high or huge to work effectively.

Yeah, that's a really good idea. I don't have a shack up anymore so I wouldn't be able to stop by, but it's still a really good idea.

I would say put one in the general voice and novice CW portions of 20M and 40M. Maybe we should google the subject matter and make sure no youth frequencies are currently in place. Using those frequencies and building on them would be a lot better than establishing another set of frequencies. I dont have time right now but if nobody else does I will later.

That's a good idea.

I have established an 80m net around 3.770MHz on Friday evenings around 1930UTC.

Its proving very popular, but not very good for distant stations. Its aimed towards UK, and Ei new licencees with an interest in progression and seeking help, as opposed to making fools of themselves when they dont ask.
