How to use the QRZ Online Swapmeet
1. Descriptive Listing Titles
Make sure that the title of your listing contains the model number(s) of the equipment that you're selling. Examples: Icom 756 Pro III, Kenwood TS-480S, etc. BE SURE AND CHECK YOUR SPELLING.
DO NOT PUT THE WORDS "FOR SALE" IN THE TITLE
We're serious about this. This includes terms such as "FS", or "FS/FT". These words are 100% unnecessary because everything in this section is "for sale", otherwise it wouldn't be here. Think of a grocery store. Do you see the words "FOR SALE" written on the food? Of course not.
The reason for this rule has to do with database searching and presence of noise words.
2. NO WANTED or FOR TRADE Listings
We have a separate section for these types of listings. See the Forum Index.
3. DO NOT LIST THE PRICE IN THE TITLE
Say whatever you like in the listing, but, keep the title clean. Just the name, preferably the model number, in the listing title.
4. DO NOT LIST THE CONDITION IN THE TITLE
Titles that say "new", "mint", "re-list", or "must sell", etc., go in the body of the listing, not the title.
5. DO NOT Re-LIST AN ITEM WITHIN 7 DAYS OF THE ORIGINAL POSTING
10's of thousands of people see these ads. Your item does not have to be on the first page to get noticed. Items that reappear too early will simply be deleted without comment.
6. ALWAYS LEAVE CONTACT INFO
If you are serious about selling your item, always leave an email address or phone number so folks can get in touch with you. You can also indicate that you'll take a PM (private message) from the forum.
7. COMMUNICATE OFTEN - this is especially true for SELLERS. Keep your buyer informed with frequent emails until the item changes hands.
8. Accept PayPal - sure, they charge a couple of percentage points, but don't let that bother you. You're better off accepting PayPal than not. You will have more selling success. People tend to trust PayPal more than most other forms of payment. BUYERS - always demand shipping insurance, and tracking numbers. Sellers, always get a delivery receipt. You have no recourse without one.
9. Offer to pay shipping - include it in your price. Folks are more likely to buy when they know the final price right up front.
10. Make sure that you state your warranty / return policy before you accept any money.
AS-IS means "no warranty".
NOT DOA means that it works.
MINT means anything but generally that it's a clean box, at least, with paperwork, packaging, and manuals.
11. eBay Listings - Listings that refer to items for sale on eBay are allowed if: 1) the seller is a private, non-commercial individual and 2) a complete description of the item is also repeated here on QRZ.
12. QRZ is not responsible for any transaction between participants.
Wanted or Trade Section
Folks, we have a separate section specifically dedicated to Items Wanted / Offers to Trade.
Please do not post Wants and Trades in the For Sale section.
Instead, please use:
Ham Radio Gear Wanted / Trade
Moderators will delete items that are posted in the wrong category.
General Merchandise Section
Welcome to Stuff For Sale
This Forum was created for folks who want to sell whatever you have that can't really be considered amateur radio related. The types of things offered can be just about anything that you would find at a typical garage sale, except for products which are illegal to sell or market via mail order.
As with all of our forums, our moderators will patrol this area to make sure that the items listed for sale fit into our rules. If they don't, they will be deleted.
QRZ reserves the right to cancel any listing that it feels is inappropriate, for any reason whatsoever. If you don't agree with this policy then you are free to take your items elsewhere, such as to
http://www.ebay.com
If you see any listing that you believe is questionable, please drop an email to
editor@qrz.com and we'll have a look at it. We won't divulge your name for having reported it.
Editing Your Listing
It has been a long established policy that we do not delete Swap Listings but instead save them for posterity. We have repeatedly asked people to mark them as SOLD, if they so choose, but to leave the body of the listing intact for future reference.
Unfortunately, far too many of our members have either not read our rules, or, have ignored them, and as a result, I've suspended editing privileges on the Swap ads.
So, effectively immediately, the only way for you to mark your Swap listing as SOLD is to post a Reply to the article as the original posting can no longer be edited.
Moderator Review
In the spirit of a peaceful section,
The forum moderators will delete posts that argue with a seller or buyer in public.
An example would be someone selling an ICOM IC-V8000 for $500. No-one needs to reply to the thread and tell the seller that you can buy one cheaper at ABC, it is the sellers business. Feel free to PM the seller if you wish.
Debate in the other sections of the forum not the swapmeet.
EBAY is an auction site, The highest bidder wins the item.
Bidding is not done at QRZ.
If you want to get rid of an item, provide the price.
As an example, If you are selling a Yaesu FTM-10R and list SEND ME YOUR BEST OFFER! That is just like bidding on EBAY. The forum moderators will delete these types of listings, who really wants to "play a pricing game"?
Now feel free to go to EBAY and list the item and then come back and provide the link, this is allowed.
These are very simple rules and we hope you enjoy this free service provided by QRZ.
Thanks, have fun, and good luck selling!
